I’m often asked, what’s the ONE best piece of advice I could give on career exploration. And here it is: Try new things and explore new options.
Whether you’ve decided you know exactly what you want to do, or have no clue where to start, try out new interests, skills, and types of work. Explore. Find ways to see, touch, feel, hear them. Really take time to try out these new possibilities, putting forth your best effort.
As you get deeper into it, you may find it’s not what you thought it was. And, conversely, something you thought you may not like, ends up being something you’re really interested in. So, rather than assuming what you know, it’s a lot wiser to make informed career, and college major decisions based on firsthand experience.
