More from the Real Deal Files . . .
Guess what? We’re human! That means we’re not perfect.
You have emotions. Sometimes situations or conversations may trigger a negative response that causes you to react in a negative way. You may even end up saying angry, unkind, or defensive things that you may regret later.
In general, it’s a really good idea to stop and think before you automatically react to anything. And, we all do it. It’s a part of being human, and growing, and that’s okay. It takes practice and starts with being aware of yourself —how you talk, feel, and react to what you hear.
So, before doing anything that causes you to feel worse, it’s important to attempt to stop, breathe deep, then process, and evaluate what’s going on before you react. It may require politely excusing yourself and revisiting the conversation once you’ve had time to get a bit of perspective.
In the long run, you’ll feel much better for it. Because how you handle things in your personal life will absolutely carry over in your professional, and career life. So, take the time to begin forging healthy habits today that will only serve you well at work and in your future job!
